A peek into Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Workshop

Event Outcome

1. This workshop was in collaboration with Monash Tech Club and IEEE Monash University Malaysia Student Branch.

2. For this workshop, the instructor was Dr. Ian Lim Wern Han. He is the current lecturer for Computer Science and Software Engineering course in Monash University Malaysia since 2014.

3. The participants got opportunity to expand their knowledge on the application skills and programming skills in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

4. Each participant has to bring their own laptop to learn about Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Before the workshop starts, Anaconda, Python and Pycham has to be installed into their laptop.

5. Before going into programming learning in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Dr. Ian used a lecture slide to teach the students on different algorithms and basic knowledges about Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

6. So far, the participants were grateful that Dr. Ian is willing to teach them well on application skills and programming skills in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and the participants are able to follow the pace of the instructor.

7. For this workshop, the registration fees for all the IEEE Monash University Malaysia Student Branch members and Monash Tech Club members will be free of charge but have to pay RM 5 deposit first while all the non-IEEE members and non-Monash Tech Club members require to pay RM 5 participation fees for this workshop.

8. Fundamentals of Programming such as Python is needed for this workshop. The instructor also mentioned that the students can use any type of Programming software in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning such as C++, Matlab and etc.

9. After this Workshop, the participants are able to know on the basic knowledge and programming skills about the Decision Tree, Regression, Sentiment Analysis, Edge Detection, Face Detection, Eye Detection and Smile Detection.
